ABOUT FTLOW
For the Love of Wine
About 25 years Ian Steel was sat in a rented farmhouse in Tuscany drinking a bottle of, more than likely, Brunello di Montalcino and wondering where he could buy this quality of wine in the UK. By the time he got home a plan had been formulated. A trip to the Verona and Vinitaly the plan had arrived. For the Love of Wine would import great wines from the small Italian producers.
From then to now For the Love of Wine have been sourcing and bringing in interesting and unusual wines direct from Italian vineyards. Over this period of time we have developed a close working and, in some cases, a close friendship with some of the top Italian winemakers.
Today Nicola and Robert (Ian’s children) run the company. Ian has retired, well we say that, he now has a vineyard in Puglia to keep him busy. You can read about that in Our Suppliers section under Trullo Flaminio.
We continue to search out fantastic wines made by brilliant (and sometimes quite frankly slightly bonkers) winemakers. Many of whom, if not all, now run sustainable practices and run organic vineyards and wine making principles.
Please get in touch if you would like more information about our wines and delivery options.
Enjoy.

About Robert
When Robert is not driving around in Van Blue delivering boxes of wine. You could possibly find him traveling around in his and partners classic motorhome, or watching most forms of motorsport. Here are some other things that he likes.
Favourite Wine
Lenotti Amarone ‘di Carlo DOC’ a big brooding red wine from the hills of Valpolicella. I may have mentioned once or twice before that I like an Amarone.
Favourite Part of Italy
In and around the town of Breganze in the north of Italy in the Vento region. The hills sides, with the Dolomites towering in the background, dotted with grand houses and vineyards.
Best Wine Experience
Working in the Trullo Flaminio vineyards in Puglia followed by a swim in the Adriatic in the afternoon.
Favourite Colour
Purple, not sure why. Just do and it has nothing to do with Prince or rain.
Favourite Song
Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here
Favourite Film
Amelie – who can’t resist a bit of French whimsy and Audrey Tatton.

About Nicola
When Nicola is not sending out invoices and trying to persuade Robert that they need another sparkling wine on the list – Nicola does like a sparkling wine – you can find her nose deep in cotton thread, wool and other crafty things, here are few of her favourite things.
Favourite Wine
Volpi Moscato. I’m always disappointed if there isn’t any left at the end of a tasting for me to have a small glass when I get home.
Favourite Part of Italy
Lake Garda especially in spring with all fruit trees in blossom and the vineyards just starting to shoot.
Best Wine Experience
Visiting Roveglia and trying all the old vintages that they keep in store.
Favourite Colour
Yellow, the colour of sunshine.

If I had a $1,000,000 by the Bare Naked Ladies.

Greatest Showman – can’t resist a good musical.
